Terms and Conditions

Last updated and version: 2026-08-15

These terms govern access to SISMATES. By accepting and continuing with Google, you confirm that you have read them, are an adult and can agree under Colombian law.

1. Nature of the service

SISMATES stands for Affected-Site Monitoring, Structural Triage and Follow-up System. It supports citizen reporting, follow-up and prioritization of visible post-earthquake impacts.

SISMATES does not replace a professional structural inspection, an official safety assessment, emergency services or authority instructions. Leave immediate danger and contact official emergency channels.

2. Account and access

Access uses a verified Google account. Keep control of your account, do not share sessions and provide truthful information. We may suspend blocked, abusive or compromised accounts.

Verified and licensed professional levels do not constitute a license granted by SISMATES; they record an internal review of submitted evidence and platform capabilities.

3. Reports and evidence

Only report good-faith observations. You keep any rights you hold in your content and grant SISMATES a free license, for the duration of the service, to store, reproduce, display and organize it to operate the platform, moderate content, create territorial reports and support affected-site response.

Do not upload illegal, false, malicious, discriminatory or unnecessarily graphic content; intimate material; copyright-infringing material; or unnecessary personal data. Never put yourself at risk to take a photograph.

4. Triage, assessments and visits

Scores from 0 to 10 support operational prioritization and may change as new evidence arrives. Colors continuously represent the score and are not official risk categories.

Professionals must act within their competence, provide honest observations and follow applicable rules. An on-site visit in SISMATES does not replace legally required certificates, expert reports or administrative acts.

5. Moderation and historical records

We may dismiss flags, hide reports or affected sites, block accounts and restore mistakenly removed content. Moderation is reversible and restricted evidence may be retained for audit, security and complaints.

6. Prohibited uses

You must not:

  • Automate abusive uploads, interfere with security or attempt to access restricted information.
  • Impersonate people or professionals, falsify location or submit altered documents.
  • Use exported data for harassment, discrimination, personal-data trading or unrelated purposes.
  • Present SISMATES, its scores or its users as an official decision that does not exist.

7. Availability and responsibility

The platform may be interrupted or contain incomplete information, location errors or delays. It is a support tool; continuous availability and the accuracy of every third-party report are not guaranteed.

To the extent allowed by law, SISMATES is not responsible for decisions that disregard official warnings, voluntary exposure to danger, third-party content or use outside the platform’s purpose.

8. Personal data and intellectual property

Personal data is governed by the current Privacy Policy. The SISMATES name, interface, documentation and code remain protected under their licenses and applicable law; these terms do not transfer ownership.

9. Changes, termination and governing law

We may update these terms for legal or functional changes. Material changes will require renewed acceptance. You may stop using the service; data retention or deletion remains governed by the Privacy Policy.

Colombian law governs these terms. Contact sismates.colombia@gmail.com first to seek resolution; unresolved matters may be brought before the competent Colombian authorities.
